It revises the diagnostic and antimicrobial treatment recommendations for cystitis, updates antibiotic dosages throughout, strengthens periprocedural antibiotic prophylaxis guidance for prostate biopsy, and adds a new section on the diagnosis and treatment of fungal urinary tract infections.

The AUA, CUA and SUFU amended their 2019 recurrent uncomplicated UTI guideline in September 2025, after the document had been reviewed and its validity confirmed in 2022. The amended version carries 20 recommendations, with revisions concentrated in the evaluation section, including how the diagnosis of recurrent UTI is established and the strength assigned to patient-initiated self-start treatment.
